War of Love - Episode 1

Dove Bulletin
1

The ancient village of Ikole had always been a place of deep traditions and whispered legends. Nestled within a lush valley, surrounded by towering hills and dense forests, it was a land where the old ways still held sway, and where the boundary between the mortal world and the realm of spirits was thin. It was in this village, long ago, that a love story unfolded—a love that would ignite a conflict, a war of emotions that would echo through the ages.

In the heart of Ikole lived Adesewa, a young woman of unparalleled beauty and grace. Her skin was as smooth as the finest ebony, and her eyes sparkled like the stars that watched over the village at night. Adesewa was the daughter of the village chief, a man of great wisdom and power, respected by all. But despite her high status and the countless suitors who came from far and wide to seek her hand, Adesewa’s heart belonged to only one: Adebayo, the village warrior.

Adebayo was strong and fearless, known throughout Ikole for his skill in battle and his unwavering loyalty to the village. He had grown up alongside Adesewa, their bond forming in childhood and blossoming into love as they matured. Theirs was a love that seemed destined, woven into the very fabric of their lives by forces they could not comprehend.

But love in Ikole was never simple, for the village was also home to spirits—some benevolent, others malevolent—who watched over the people with a mix of curiosity and envy. Among these spirits was Orisa, the god of war, who had long harboured a desire for Adesewa. From the moment she reached womanhood, Orisa had been captivated by her beauty, his longing for her growing stronger with each passing day. He watched her from the shadows, his jealousy burning as he saw her affection for Adebayo.

Orisa was not a spirit to be crossed, and his anger was known to bring misfortune to those who defied him. Yet, Adesewa and Adebayo, blinded by their love, were oblivious to the danger that loomed over them. They met in secret under the cover of night, their hearts full of dreams for the future—a future where they would be together, free from the constraints of the world around them.

But Orisa’s jealousy knew no bounds, and one fateful night, he decided to act. As Adesewa and Adebayo met by the sacred grove, where the moonlight filtered through the ancient trees, Orisa appeared before them in his true form. His presence was overwhelming, his eyes burning with a fire that seemed to scorch the very earth beneath his feet.
